About Kelly G

Writing Coach + Editor

I’m a writing coach and developmental editor who helps researchers, clinicians, and technical professionals strengthen their writing and build a more sustainable process.

After more than 20 years in this work, I still love challenging the myth that only “bad” writers need support. Most of my clients are brilliant thinkers in their fields. They vary in confidence and writing experience, but they share one belief: the best writing does not happen in isolation.

That’s where I come in. I work one-on-one with writers who want to clarify complex ideas, strengthen structure and flow, and move through the writing process with more confidence. I help clients step back from the details they know too well, see their work with fresh eyes, and find a clearer path forward.

My background in Writing Center pedagogy, psychology research, and studio art shapes the way I work. I see both the architecture of an idea and the spark that brings it to life. In every collaboration, I serve as an advocate and thought partner, helping writers protect their authorship while making their work stronger.

Alongside my independent practice, I serve as Clinical Content Writer and Editor at the American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (ASPEN), where I lead major scientific book projects and publication initiatives. I was Managing Editor of Nutrition in Clinical Practice and two bestselling core curriculum books, and I currently support authors on four books covering topics from compounding safety to nutrition support for transplant patients.

I’ve called Durham, North Carolina home since 2009, after chapters in San Diego, the Bay Area, Chicago, and New York. I live here with my husband and our four big dogs, two of whom are with us in spirit. In my personal writing, I often explore grief, care beyond pronatalism, and the human and animal bond. People who know me best will tell you I have a research article to cite for every conversation.

You can connect with me on LinkedIn to learn more about my work and current projects.
